Roman Catholic churches are religious places of worship for the Roman Catholic congregation. History tells us that the largest Church in the world viz., St.Peter's Basilica in Vatican, Rome is the holy place where the tomb of St.Peter, one of the Apostles of Jesus, is placed.

To propagate the teachings of Jesus, the apostles spread the word far and wide. One of his followers St.Francis Xavier came to India to spread his preachings. According to BBC News of 14.3.2013 there are an estimated 1.2 billion Roman Catholics in the world and 40% of this estimate, live in Latin America. Asia has estimated 137 million Catholics. India has an estimated 20 million catholics.

Some of the churches are well known for the miracles and favours received by the laity. Prominent among such Indian churches are Our Lady of Good Health, Vellankanny, Our Lady of Perpetual Succor at St.Michael's Church, Mahim, Infant Jesus Church at Nashik, St.Anthony's Shrine at Sion, Mumbai and Camp, Pune, Basilica of Bom Jesus, Goa and St.Lawrence Church at Karkala, Managalore among many others.

I could cover only a few of the prominent churches which I could visit in person and receive favours. My devotion started with Mother of Perpetual Succor novena at Mahim in the most difficult period of my life. I am of the firm belief that a humble prayer to whichever God you pray, your prayer will be heard, albeit in different ways. Sometimes the granting of the favours may not be direclty in the manner in which we are seeking them but it comes in different ways through differnt people, some of whom we may not even be knowing.

A pilgrimage to Our Lady of Good Health at Velankanny is the most soothing exeprience in life. People from all across the country and even abroad visit this place round the year, because they have heard of the miraculous powers of our Lady.
